Indian Embassy Issues Travel Advisory Near Thailand-Cambodia Border
In a recent announcement on its official social media handle, the Indian embassy has recommended all Indian travelers to Thailand to monitor updates from Thai official sources, particularly TAT Newsroom. The embassy shared a post from the Tourism Authority of Thailand Newsroom stating that traveling to 7 specified provinces is not advisable.
Provinces to Avoid According to Thailand Tourism Authority
The list of provinces mentioned by the Tourism Authority of Thailand includes Ubon Ratchathani, Surin, Sisaket, Buriram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat. Specific areas within these provinces are marked as restricted zones, such as Phanom Swai Forest Park, Chong Sai Taku, Ta Phraya NP, and Chong Sa-ngam.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has also informed about the closure of border checkpoints and tourist spots near the Thailand-Cambodia border by the Royal Thai Army. This measure is being taken to ensure the safety of the public and national security in response to recent security incidents.
Escalation of Conflict Along Thailand-Cambodia Border
Furthermore, the Thai interior minister revealed that over 100,000 individuals from border areas have been impacted by the ongoing conflict, resulting in the loss of 14 lives. The current disagreement stems from a long-standing border dispute between the two countries. Despite a resolution by the UN court in 2013, tensions resurfaced after a fatal altercation in May where a Cambodian soldier was killed. Subsequently, Thailand expelled the Cambodian ambassador and recalled its own.
For more information and updates on the situation, the Tourism Authority of Thailand advised international travelers to rely on official channels for accurate updates.
