Anupam Kher, a veteran in Bollywood, has made a unique decision to continue living in a rented flat despite his successful career. This choice is driven by his desire to ensure his family’s peace and harmony even after he is no longer around.
A Peaceful Family Life
During a recent appearance on The Powerful Humans podcast, Anupam Kher discussed his reasons for not purchasing multiple homes despite having the means to do so. He expressed concern about potential conflicts that could arise after his passing if he were to leave behind inherited property.
Anupam shared, “After someone passes away, there can be disputes over the inherited property. It is easier to distribute money, as it minimizes the chances of conflicts. I have witnessed troubling stories of elderly individuals being mistreated or manipulated for their assets, and I want to avoid such situations for my family.”
Embracing Freedom
Besides his living arrangements, Anupam also touched upon his role as a stepfather to Sikandar, emphasizing the importance of giving young individuals the freedom to make their own decisions without excessive parental interference.
He stated, “I believe in giving children space to learn from their mistakes. In my real life, I don’t impose strict rules on Sikandar or micromanage his choices. Parents should encourage independence in their children so they can grow and develop on their own terms.”
Anupam has been married to Kirron Kher since 1985, and the couple has supported each other through personal challenges. Their son, Sikandar, has grown under Anupam’s guidance and values.

In his latest film, “Tanvi The Great,” Anupam Kher not only acts but also directs the production. The movie sheds light on important topics like autism and the commendable work of the Indian Army, featuring a stellar cast with promising talent.
