Dalai Lama Expresses Desire to Live Over 130 Years Amid Succession Speculation – GNP News

Dalai Lama Hopes to Live Over 130 Years

The Dalai Lama expressed his desire to live until he is over 130 years old during a ceremony organized by his followers in India. The Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader spoke to hundreds of followers ahead of his 90th birthday, stating that he still hopes to live for over 130 years.

A Life in Exile

The Dalai Lama has been living in the northern Indian hill town of Dharamshala since fleeing Tibet in 1959 after a failed uprising against Chinese rule. Despite being in exile, he mentioned that he intends to serve beings and the dharma as much as he can.

Reincarnation and Succession

Addressing the speculation over his succession, the Dalai Lama emphasized that the authority to recognize his reincarnation lies with his non-profit institution, the Gaden Phodrang Trust. He previously stated that he would reincarnate in the β€œfree world,” a decision that has been met with opposition from Beijing, which views him as a separatist.

Despite the challenges he faces, the Dalai Lama remains committed to his beliefs and continues to spread the teachings of the Buddha to his followers worldwide.
