Retired Warrant Officer’s Gold Kara Stolen in Distraction Theft Incident
The complainant, Paramjit Singh Chauhan, a retired warrant officer and resident of Punjab Modern Complex, Baltana, reported a theft incident that occurred while he was trying to board a bus to Baltana, Zirakpur.
According to Paramjit Singh, as he attempted to get on the bus, a man obstructed his way, and three unidentified women threw bags over his shoulders to distract him. During the chaos, the thieves managed to cut his gold kara without his immediate notice.
The perpetrators did not board the bus and quickly vanished in the crowd. It was only after he sat down on a seat that Paramjit Singh realized his kara was missing.
Due to his health condition, being treated for cancer, he could not report the incident promptly. He filed a complaint on July 21 at the PGI Police Post regarding the incident.
Subsequently, a case was registered under sections 303(2), 126(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against an unidentified man and three women.
The case was directed to Police Station Sector 11 for further examination. The authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the Gol Market and PGI vicinity to identify the suspects.
