Unusual Surgery in Maharashtra
In a rare medical case, doctors in Maharashtra’s Amravati city successfully removed nearly half a kilogram of hairball from the stomach of a 10-year-old girl.
Hair-Eating Habit Revealed
The girl had been experiencing digestion issues and was brought to the hospital with symptoms like vomiting, loss of appetite, and weight loss.
Upon further examination, it was discovered that the girl had the habit of eating hair, which had formed a large mass in her stomach.
Surgical Intervention
After counseling, the medical team decided to perform surgery on the girl. During the procedure, they extracted around half a kilogram of hairball from her stomach.
The surgery was successful, and the girl is now recovering well, able to eat normally without any complications.
The young patient will be discharged from the hospital soon, according to Dr. Usha Gajbhiye, the paediatric surgeon who led the operation.
This peculiar medical case serves as a reminder of the importance of seeking timely medical attention and addressing unusual habits that may lead to health complications.
