Hariyali Teej 2025 Celebrations: A Look Into the Festivities

It is a day where women observe nirjala vrat, which means fasting without water. They dress in green saris and wear green bangles as a symbol of the festival’s color. Significance of Hariyali Teej
Hariyali Teej symbolizes the union of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati. According to beliefs, Maa Parvati performed intense penance in 108 lifetimes to win Lord Shiva’s heart, which was fulfilled on Hariyali Teej.

Customs and Traditions
Hariyali Teej, also known as Chhoti Teej and Shravana Teej, will be observed on Sunday, 27 July 2025, as per Drik Panchang. Married women traditionally fast on this day, praying for their spouse’s well-being. Unmarried women also seek blessings from Lord Shiva for better opportunities.
The festival involves gifting traditions, where married women visit their parents and receive Sindhara, a basket of gifts containing homemade sweets and bangles. Traditional sweets like ghevar, kheer, balushahi, shakkar para, and jalebi are also popular during Hariyali Teej.
