Rescue Operation Uncovers Trafficking Scheme
Recently, a rescue operation in West Bengal revealed a shocking tale of false promises and trafficking. A total of 56 women were rescued, and two individuals were apprehended at the New Jalpaiguri station in Siliguri, West Bengal.
Details of the Rescue
The rescued women, aged between 18 and 31, belonged to various districts in West Bengal such as Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, and Alipurduar. The railway staff became suspicious when they discovered that none of the women possessed valid tickets.
The women mentioned that they were lured with promises of employment at a company in Bengaluru. However, the authorities found discrepancies in their travel arrangements and the promises made to them.
Arrest of Suspects
The railway protection force (RPF) detained a man and a woman accompanying the women. These individuals failed to provide any verifiable documents supporting the job offers or the reasons for the women’s travel. Consequently, they were arrested on the spot.
Following the intervention, the rescued women were safely returned to their respective homes.
Authorities are actively investigating the case to uncover the full extent of the human trafficking operation. West Bengal’s Criminal Investigation Department has a specialized Anti Human Trafficking Cell (AHTU) that can be reached at 033-24506114 for any related information.
