Over the past decade, Indian cricket has set exceptional fitness standards. These standards have not only helped players perform better but have also led to historic achievements on the field. New players in the team often look up to experienced players for guidance in various aspects of the game, whether it is bowling, batting, or fielding. For India’s leg-spinner, Ravi Bishnoi, the 36-year-old Virat Kohli is the epitome of fitness, even though the 44-year-old MS Dhoni continues to play actively.
Fitness Inspiration: Virat Kohli
In a conversation with ANI, Bishnoi expressed, “I look up to Virat Bhai [Virat Kohli], he is very fit. You can see his aggression on the field and off the field. When he bats or fields, you can see that energy, which fitness brings to your game, you get an extra push from it.”
“I idolize him in fitness. I can’t reach his level, but I strive to come close to him,” added the star Indian spinner.
Virat Kohli’s Fitness Legacy
Vaigat Kohli has been one of the fittest cricketers in India’s history, although he is no longer active in T20Is and Tests. Kohli announced his decision to retire from the red-ball format days before the India squad for the England Test series was revealed.
His retirement sparked debates among former cricketers and experts who believe that Kohli still had a lot to contribute. As the Indian team led by Shubman Gill aims to triumph over England, commentators and analysts reminisce about Kohli’s impact in challenging conditions.
Vision of Virat Kohli
Reflecting on Kohli’s influence, former England pacer Steve Harmison commented, “Finding a way to turn the tide of the game during a session. India needs to believe. Players like Virat Kohli were exceptional in such situations.”
“In a fourth innings chase, Kohli excelled and comfortably won the game. He would have done the same at Lord’s,” Harmison added.
