Government School Roof Collapse Claims Life at Tangra Toli, Jharkhand
The incident occurred around 7.30 am at the school in Tangra Toli, Piska More, in Jharkhand. Three individuals were trapped under debris but successfully rescued and taken to a nearby hospital, according to an official.
Manoj Kumar, the in-charge of Sukhdeo Nagar police station, mentioned that a person lost his life when a section of the government school building’s roof caved in. The victim, identified as Suraj Baitha, 65 years old and a resident of Ratu, was a caretaker at the school. He was sleeping in the verandah when the tragedy struck.
Initially, authorities feared only one person was trapped, but it was later confirmed that three individuals sustained injuries in the distressing incident. The injured, Manish Tirkey, Pritam Tirkey, and Motu Oraon, aged between 18 and 19 years, were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Police are currently probing the matter, with further information pending, noted Kumar. A local resident informed that the school had low attendance and remained shut, leading to the unfortunate event.
Putul Tirkey, residing near the school, recounted the incident, highlighting the prompt action taken by the rescue team that ensured the injured received timely medical care.
