Reforms for Justice in Jammu & Kashmir
LG Manoj Sinha has taken significant steps to ensure that justice is served to the victims of terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir. He has promised that FIRs will be filed as necessary and properties that were unjustly taken away will be returned to their rightful owners. Sinha’s recent actions aim to address the long-standing grievances of terror victims in the region.
Reopening Cases for Victims
Just a couple of weeks ago, the LG announced the reopening of cases related to individuals who were killed by Pakistani-backed terrorists during the turbulent years of militancy. Families of the victims who had been denied justice for years will now have their cases revisited. Sinha directed officials to provide jobs to the next of kin of the victims on a priority basis, ensuring that they receive the support they deserve.
During a ceremony in Baramulla, many attendees shared their stories of suffering and injustice. Suhail Yousuf from Kupwara expressed his gratitude for the initiative, recounting how his family had been affected by terrorism in 2002.
Similarly, Omar Kakroo, former chairman of Baramulla municipal council, narrated the tragic loss of his father to a terrorist attack in 2007. He emphasized that terrorism has no place in any religion and called for justice for the victims.
Another heart-wrenching story came from a woman in Kakar Hamam whose son was killed by militants in 2018. She shared the struggles she had faced over the years.
Ensuring Justice and Support
LG Sinha underlined the importance of providing justice, jobs, recognition, and support to the families of terror victims who had suffered silently for decades. He acknowledged the pain these families had endured and highlighted the need to honor their loved ones who had lost their lives to terrorism.
Sinha vowed to address the grievances of terror victims by setting up helplines in districts to ensure that complaints are heard and acted upon. He reassured the people that those responsible for heinous acts would be brought to justice and that efforts would be made to restore lands and properties to their rightful owners.
With these reforms, LG Manoj Sinha aims to bring closure to the countless families who have been waiting for justice and support for years. His commitment to providing relief and rehabilitation to these families marks a significant milestone in the region’s pursuit of justice and peace.
