Andaman To Get Luxury Eco-Tourism Resorts, Including Aves Island
The Andaman and Nicobar administration has decided to build luxury eco-tourism resorts at various locations, with the highlight being the development of a five-star resort on the uninhabited Aves Island. This marks a significant step towards promoting sustainable tourism in the region.
Development Plans
The eco-tourism properties are set to come up at Neil Island, Megapode Resort in Port Blair, as well as Aves Island, Long Island, and Smith Island in North and Middle Andaman. These resorts will offer a blend of luxury and nature, providing visitors with a unique and memorable experience.
The Andaman & Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation Limited has initiated the process by inviting bids for developing the resorts on a public-private partnership basis. The bidding process is scheduled to take place in September, following a pre-bid meeting in August.
Unique Features of Aves Island
Aves Island, being uninhabited and untouched by tourism, presents an exciting opportunity for explorers. Known for its vast coconut plantations, the island boasts acres of natural beauty waiting to be discovered. With live and dead coral flat beds along its coastline, Aves Island is a paradise for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts.
After the resort is established, Aves Island is expected to become a sought-after destination, rivaling popular spots like Havelock Island. The location’s proximity to Mayabunder town and its scenic landscapes make it an ideal destination for camping and trekking enthusiasts.
Facilities and Investments
The planned resorts will offer various amenities such as shopping arenas, wellness centers, and a range of recreational activities including scuba diving, fishing, trekking, and camping. The properties are projected to have a significant number of rooms, catering to the growing demand for luxury accommodation in the region.
With investments totaling in crores, these projects aim to create world-class tourism infrastructure while maintaining a sustainable and eco-friendly approach. The development of these luxury eco-tourism resorts is poised to elevate the tourism experience in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
