Security forces in Manipur recently conducted several operations in the hill districts of Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Pherzawl, Tengnoupal, and Chandel. These operations led to the recovery of a significant number of firearms and ammunition.
Recovery of Firearms and Ammunition
The joint teams involved in the operations, including police, Central Armed Police Forces, Assam Rifles, and the army, recovered a total of 155 firearms and 1,652 rounds of ammunition. The recovered items included eight AK series rifles, two INSAS rifles, four carbines, one SLR, eight 9mm pistols, fourteen 12 bore guns, 21 single bore guns, and 14 country-made pistols, among other rifles.
Additionally, 31 locally-made mortars, 39 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 13 hand grenades, and over 1,600 rounds of ammunition were seized during these operations. Apart from firearms and explosives, 15 communication sets and 4 binoculars were also recovered by the security forces.
