Meizu 22: World’s Thinnest Bezel Smartphone Coming Soon

Meizu 22, thin bezels, smartphone technology

The upcoming Meizu 22 smartphone is set to feature the world’s thinnest bezels, as claimed by the Chinese company in a recent social media announcement. Despite the challenges faced by the research and development team, they have managed to achieve this remarkable feat. The teaser for the new handset suggests a design similar to its predecessor, the Meizu 21, known for its 6.55-inch full-HD+ display with ultra-thin 1.74mm bezels. However, the Meizu company declared its shift from Android smartphones to artificial intelligence in February 2024, making the Meizu 22 possibly its final phone.

Anticipation for Meizu 22

Meizu teased the launch and design of the Meizu 22 in a recent post on the Chinese microblogging platform, Weibo. The teaser hints at an imminent unveiling of the smartphone, with claims of it sporting the narrowest bezels ever seen on a phone, measuring only 1.2mm.

Technological Advancements

To achieve this incredible feat, the company utilized a self-developed LIPO process, initially facing challenges in creating such thin bezels. Through advancements in display technology and a complex 6-layer processing method, they achieved the narrowest white panel process, albeit with a higher defective rate. The development of the world’s narrowest fourth-class white border followed numerous production setbacks.

Meizu 21 Comparison

The Meizu 21, launched in November 2023, features a 6.55-inch full-HD+ touchscreen with a high refresh rate, exceptional peak brightness, and thin bezels. Powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and Adreno 750 GPU, it is a powerful device. The Meizu 22 marks the potential conclusion of the company’s smartphone line, as they focus on AI technology and software solutions after exiting the Android market.
