Nitish Government Hikes Monthly Pension Of Retired Journalists By Rs 9,000 Ahead Of Bihar Polls
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced a raise in the pension of retired journalists under the ‘Bihar Patrakar Samman’ scheme. Now, all eligible retired journalists registered with the Bihar government will receive Rs 15,000 per month, up from the earlier amount of Rs 6,000. This decision comes before the upcoming Bihar assembly polls scheduled for later this year.
Increased Benefits
In his announcement, CM Nitish Kumar highlighted the importance of journalists in democracy and social development. He mentioned that journalists are essential for the functioning of democracy and play a crucial role in our society. The increase in the pension amount aims to provide better support to retired journalists so they can live with dignity after their years of service.
Additionally, in the unfortunate event of the death of a journalist receiving pension under the scheme, their dependent or spouse will now receive a lifetime monthly pension of Rs 10,000, a significant increase from the previous amount of Rs 3,000.
Free Electricity Up To 125 Units Per Month
In another significant announcement, CM Nitish Kumar has declared free electricity up to 125 units per month for the residents of Bihar. This initiative is geared towards providing essential services and support to the people of Bihar.
