PM Modi Targets TMC Government

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a sharp attack on Trinamool Congress (TMC), urging the people to give the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a chance to lead West Bengal with honesty, hard work, and strength in the 2026 assembly polls.

Educational Sector Corruption Allegations

Speaking at a public rally in Durgapur, PM Modi accused the TMC government of overseeing a “double attack of crime and corruption,” particularly within the education sector.

“Whether at the primary or higher levels, the education system is deteriorating. TMC has allowed crime and corruption to infiltrate Bengal’s education, resulting in thousands of qualified teachers being unemployed due to corruption,” he stated.

Protests Over Recruitment Scam

PM Modi’s comments come amidst ongoing protests following the 2024 Calcutta High Court’s decision to invalidate teacher appointments in a significant recruitment scam. SSC-qualified teachers, represented by the ‘Jogya Shikshak Shikshika Adhikar Mancha,’ marched to Nabanna, the state secretariat, demanding justice on July 14.

The future of numerous children is endangered due to the teacher shortage, PM Modi emphasized, noting that families are in crisis. He criticized TMC for plunging Bengal’s present and future into darkness.

Concerns Over Safety and Declining Industries

Addressing safety issues on college campuses, PM Modi highlighted cases of sexual harassment. He also lamented the industrial decline in Bengal, forcing the youth to migrate in search of employment opportunities.

PM Modi urged the people of West Bengal to vote for BJP in the 2026 Assembly elections, promising development, job creation, and good governance.

During his visit, PM Modi inaugurated and laid foundation stones for various development projects, including the BPCL City Gas Distribution project and the Durgapur-Haldia Natural Gas Pipeline.

He also dedicated the Retrofitting Pollution Control System for Durgapur and Raghunathpur Thermal Power Stations.
