P V Sindhu Shines at China Open Super 1000
Double Olympic medallist and former world champion P V Sindhu faced sixth seed Tomoka Miyazaki of Japan at the China Open Super 1000 event on Wednesday. In a thrilling encounter, Sindhu emerged victorious 21-15, 8-21, 21-17 to advance to the round of 16.
Sindhu’s Stellar Performance
Sindhu dominated the opening game, taking a commanding lead of 13-5. Miyazaki fought back strongly in the second game, but Sindhu managed to regain control in the decider, securing the win after a hard-fought battle lasting 62 minutes.
Currently ranked 15th in the world, Sindhu faced the 18-year-old Miyazaki for the second time, seeking redemption after her previous loss at the Swiss Open.
Looking Ahead
Sindhu aims to bounce back from recent early exits, including a first-round defeat at the Japan Open. Despite setbacks at various tournaments this season, the Indian ace remains focused on her upcoming matches.
Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles event, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty displayed a dominant performance, defeating their Japanese opponents comfortably.
Challenges for Indian Duo
The men’s doubles pair is determined to overcome their semi-final hurdles, seeking success at prestigious events after reaching the last four in previous tournaments.
However, it was a tough day for the women’s doubles team of Rutaparna Panda and Swetaparna Panda, facing defeat against the Hong Kong duo.
