Rahul Gandhi Accuses India’s Electoral System of Collapse
Speaking at the Annual Legal Conclave 2025 in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi made startling claims about the integrity of India’s electoral system. He asserted, “We are going to prove to you in the coming few days how a Lok Sabha election can be rigged and was rigged.”
Allegations Against the Election Commission of India
Rahul Gandhi’s accusations didn’t stop there. He went on to criticize the Election Commission of India (ECI), alleging that it was complicit in “vote theft” to benefit the BJP. The Congress leader claimed to possess concrete evidence of electoral malpractice that would expose the ECI’s involvement.
Gandhi described the evidence as an “atom bomb” that would shake the very foundations of the ECI once revealed. He warned of severe implications for the ECI officials involved in the alleged malpractice, emphasizing that their actions amounted to nothing less than treason.
Response from the Election Commission of India
However, the Election Commission of India refuted Gandhi’s claims, labeling them as baseless and irresponsible. The EC urged its officials to continue working impartially and transparently, disregarding such accusations and threats.
Despite the back-and-forth, the controversy surrounding Rahul Gandhi’s allegations continues to raise questions about the integrity of India’s electoral system and the role of the Election Commission of India.
