Rahul Gandhi’s Support for Orphan Students in Poonch District

Indian Youth Congress president Uday Bhanu Chib announced that Rahul Gandhi has decided to provide financial help to children orphaned in the recent Pak shelling in Poonch district. The aid aims to ensure these children can complete their school education by sponsoring them within Poonch.

Rahul Gandhi’s Visit and Encouragement

Rahul Gandhi’s decision came after his visit to Poonch on May 24, where he met students of Christ School. During this visit, he motivated the students to stay strong and continue their education in the face of the recent traumatic events.

Gandhi encouraged the students, saying, “Now you have experienced some danger and frightening situations, but remember, everything will return to normal. Your response to this should be to study hard, play, and build friendships in school.”

Recent Events in Poonch

The Poonch sector witnessed escalated artillery and mortar shelling following India’s precise strikes under Operation Sindoor in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. These strikes were carried out in response to the Pahalgam massacre, resulting in a wave of shelling, missiles, and drone attacks by Pakistan.

Tragically, this series of attacks claimed the lives of 28 people, with 16 casualties in Poonch alone. Among the victims were Ayan and Aruba, 13-year-old twins and children of Rameez Khan, who studied at Christ School. They lost their lives during a Pakistani shelling attack on May 7.
