Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 Now Bar Expansion
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 comes with the latest Android 16-based One UI 8 firmware that introduces the innovative Now Bar feature. This new functionality enhances the clamshell-style foldable phone with exciting capabilities.
Enhanced Features
The Now Bar, powered by Galaxy AI, is now available on the Flex Window (cover screen) of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7. It offers personalized briefs, suggested content, reminders, travel updates, and more in the form of multiple stacked cards.
Expanded Support
Currently, the Now Bar supports 20 apps and services on the cover screen, including Samsung’s first-party apps like Interpreter, Now Brief, Media Player, Stop Watch, Timer, and Voice Recorder. Additionally, it also integrates with Google Maps and Sports, along with various third-party applications.
Future Expansion
Reports indicate that Samsung plans to increase the Now Bar’s support to include up to 35 apps and services by the end of the year. This expansion is made possible by Samsung’s Android 16 update and the introduction of the One UI 8 firmware.
API Support
The One UI 8 release also brings API support for Live Notifications, similar to Live Activities on iOS. This feature delivers real-time lock screen notifications for ongoing activities such as active navigation, phone calls, food delivery tracking, and ride-share tracking.
In addition to Samsung Galaxy devices, the API is also utilized to provide Live Alerts on Oppo and OnePlus smartphones, showcasing the versatility and widespread integration of this technology.
