Joint Security Operation Against Maoists in Chhattisgarh

A recent operation based on intelligence information is currently ongoing in Chhattisgarh, targeting Maoists. The police issued a statement confirming the operation’s initiation and the continuous efforts to apprehend the Maoist group.

Encounter Details and Recovery Efforts

The bodies of six Maoists have been transported to the district headquarters for identification. The operation involved a collaboration of security personnel teams, including the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). Interactions between Maoists and security forces escalated into an exchange of fire on Friday, continuing in certain areas. As a result, the bodies of six Maoists were retrieved from the site.

Seized arms and explosive materials such as AK-47 and SLR rifles were found at the location. Operational specifics are being kept confidential to safeguard the forces’ safety and maintain tactical advantages on the ground.

Challenges in Abujhmad Region

Abujhmad, known for its dense forests and challenging terrain, has been a recognized Maoist stronghold due to its secluded nature and limited road access. Anti-Maoist efforts in Chhattisgarh have pushed the Maoists to regroup into smaller units and seek refuge in inaccessible regions.

Over 20,000 security personnel have been deployed in Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra for operational purposes. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the casualties among Maoist cadres, with aims to eradicate Maoism from the country by the coming year.
