Action Director’s Stressful Experience
The action director, Sham Kaushal, reminisced about the intense shoot of the climax scene where Shah Rukh Khan’s character, Om, attempts to rescue Deepika Padukone’s character, Shantipriya, from a raging fire on set. Sham Kaushal expressed his immense stress regarding the safety of the entire team during the filming.
Reflecting on the elaborate setup, Sham Kaushal mentioned that no visual effects were used at that time. The scene required the actual ignition of fire on the set, with Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, three camerapersons, and approximately 60 crew members present inside the fiery set.
Sham Kaushal described the tension he felt during the shoot, emphasizing the need for extreme caution. The quick extinguishing of the flames was crucial, as any mistake could have led to disastrous consequences. The pressure was so immense that Sham Kaushal admitted to breaking down in tears on set, fearing a potential heart attack from the stress.
