Recently, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee made a significant decision to include the ‘Maratha Military Landscapes’ in the prestigious World Heritage List during its 47th session held in Paris. The ‘Maratha Military Landscapes’ encompass a collection of forts including Salher, Shivneri, Lohgad, Khanderi, Raigad, Rajgad, Pratapgad, Suvarnadurg, Panhala, Vijay Durg, and Sindhudurg in Maharashtra, along with the Gingee Fort in Tamil Nadu. These forts stand as testaments to the valor and strategic prowess of the Maratha Empire.

Expressing his views, the MNS chief emphasized the importance of preserving these historical monuments. He urged the government to take immediate action to address unauthorized constructions on the forts, irrespective of the encroachers’ background.
