South Park Satirizes Trump in Season 27 Premiere
After the debut of Season 27 of South Park on Wednesday, the White House criticized the portrayal of the President and called the show a “fourth-rate show” with lackluster ideas.
Creators’ Response to Backlash
Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of South Park since 1997, addressed the backlash at San Diego’s Comic-Con International. In response to the White House’s anger over the South Park-Trump episode, Parker deadpanned, “We’re terribly sorry,” followed by a comic stare at the camera and fans, as reported by The Mirror US.
Episode Synopsis
The episode features Trump suing all of South Park’s residents for challenging the presence of regular character Jesus Christ. Trump is humorously portrayed naked in bed with Satan and takes jabs at tariff policies with Canada and the cancellation of Stephen Colbert’s show.
Jesus remarks in the episode, “You guys saw what happened to CBS? Yeah, well, guess who owns CBS? Paramount. Do you really want to end up like Colbert?”
Additionally, JD Vance discusses a promise to Hulk Hogan that he can no longer fulfill.
A White House spokesperson issued a statement criticizing South Park, claiming the show is no longer relevant and is seeking attention. The spokesperson asserts that President Trump has fulfilled more promises in six months than any other president.
