India Witnessed Startup Boom In Last 10 Years; Students Must Focus On Entrepreneurship: Jitendra Singh – GNP News

Union Minister Jitendra Singh Emphasizes Startup Growth in India

Union Minister Jitendra Singh recently highlighted the significant increase in startups in India over the past decade, moving from just 350 startups to nearly 1.75 lakh. This rise reflects a growing trend towards entrepreneurship and job creation in the country.

Encouraging a Shift Towards Entrepreneurship

Singh emphasized the importance of students shifting their mindset from being job seekers to becoming job creators. He stressed how this shift can contribute to scientific progress and strengthen India’s position as a global leader in research and innovation.

The establishment of the Rs 1 lakh crore National Research Foundation (NRF-Anusandhan) aims to boost private sector investment in research and development, enhancing the overall research ecosystem in the country.

Striving for Innovation and Growth

By scrapping obsolete rules, simplifying governance, and enabling faster procurement through relaxed General Financial Rules (GFRs), India is paving the way for accelerated scientific progress. Recent reforms empower vice-chancellors to approve global tenders up to Rs 200 crore, streamlining research equipment procurement and infrastructure development.

India’s focus on innovation is evident in its improved ranking on the Global Innovation Index, now standing at 39 globally. The country’s patent filings and scientific publication output have also increased, showcasing the contributions of Indian institutions to the global academic and research landscape.

Leadership in Science and Technology

India’s space missions, including Chandrayaan and Gaganyaan, have solidified its position as a leader in science and technology on a global scale. Remarkable experiments aboard these missions, like Shubhanshu’s breakthrough achievements in life sciences and biotechnology, are setting benchmarks for scientific innovation.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh inaugurated a new hostel on the campus, highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting educational infrastructure growth. The recent authorization for directors to approve tenders up to Rs 200 crore further streamlines procurement processes for advanced research endeavors.

These initiatives collectively aim to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and scientific advancement to propel India towards becoming a prominent figure in the global research and innovation landscape.
