Stephen Colbert Takes a Dig at Trump with Coldplay Kiss Cam Recreation
Television host Stephen Colbert humorously mocked United States President Donald Trump by reenacting the viral Coldplay kiss cam moment on the latest episode of The Late Show.
The Late Show’s Future
CBS recently revealed that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will conclude its broadcast in May 2026 due to financial reasons, disappointing both the audience and Colbert himself.
During the episode, Colbert, alongside Paramount’s Jon Stewart, criticized the network’s decision to cancel the show amid tensions with Trump.
Celebrity Performance and Controversy
The episode featured performances by Lin-Manuel Miranda and “Weird Al” Yankovic singing Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida,” with celebrity guests like Jimmy Fallon, Jon Stewart, Seth Meyers, Andy Cohen, and John Oliver in the audience.
A cartoon version of Trump made an appearance, mirroring Coldplay’s controversial concert moment.
Colbert’s frustration with Paramount also stems from their settlement with Trump over a lawsuit, which he labeled as a “bribe”. The settlement involved a significant payment to Trump following a dispute related to an interview with Kamala Harris.
Trump’s Response and Colbert’s Comeback
Trump, a frequent target of Colbert’s criticism, expressed pleasure at Colbert’s supposed firing. In response, Colbert told Trump off and joked about his career’s end being celebrated by a sitting president.
Colbert humorously linked the cancellation of his show to his decision to grow a moustache, poking fun at the situation.
