Suspected Thief Impersonating Security Personnel Kills Groom-to-be

A shocking incident occurred in Jammu and Kashmir’s Qazigund when a suspected thief, pretending to be a security personnel, tragically ended the life of a groom-to-be during a fake search operation.

The Incident:

Zahid Ahmad Banday, a 25-year-old man who was eagerly looking forward to his upcoming wedding, fell victim to an attack by the accused, Naseer Ahmad Sheikh. The perpetrator carried out a midnight heist while posing as a security personnel.

Reports from locals indicate that Sheikh, hailing from a nearby village, donned the attire of security forces and was equipped with a pistol, a dagger, and a walkie-talkie. He managed to deceive the family members by claiming that a security cordon had been placed around their residence due to suspected terrorist activity.

Initially, the family mistook the imposter for a genuine security operative, considering such operations not uncommon in the conflict-ridden region. However, suspicions arose when Zahid challenged the intruder while he was inspecting the rooms. A scuffle ensued, leading to Zahid getting fatally stabbed by the trespasser.

Subsequently, the assailant attempted to escape by leaping from a second-story window, resulting in a leg injury that hindered his escape. Alert locals intervened, apprehended Sheikh, and handed him over to the authorities.

Expressing disbelief at the audacity of the criminal, a relative remarked that the lone perpetrator seemed to be part of a larger criminal gang, considering the complexity of the orchestrated “search operation” and the weapons he possessed.

Investigations are underway to uncover the motives behind this heinous act and bring all involved parties to justice.
