Actress Tanishaa Mukerji’s Stand Against ‘Bollywood Bashing’ Claims
Saiyaara, the latest musical romance directed by Mohit Suri and produced by Yash Raj Films, has taken the Indian film industry by storm. The movie, starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has captivated a young audience with its emotional storyline.
The Controversy
Recently, a podcast by The Asymmetric Crew featuring The Barber Shop with Shantanu stirred up a controversy by alleging that the success of Saiyaara was engineered through staged emotional reactions inside theatres.
The speaker on the podcast claimed, “The producer paid Gen-Z individuals to fake emotional breakdowns inside theatres to promote the movie. This tactic is how the movie is being marketed.” These comments attracted the attention of actor Tanishaa Mukerji, who strongly refuted the claims.
Tanishaa Mukerji’s Response
Tanishaa Mukerji, sister of renowned actress Kajol, dismissed the allegations as outdated and out of touch with the changing times. In a comment on the social media platform, she criticized the podcaster’s views and defended the new wave of cinema.
She wrote, “The younger generation resonates with emotions displayed in films like Saiyaara. Every generation has its unique way of connecting with cinema. This is not bollywood bashing but a new era of storytelling.”
Box Office Success
Saiyaara, which hit theaters on July 18, generated significant buzz prior to its release, earning ₹9.39 crores through advance bookings. The movie has now surpassed the ₹250 crore mark in India, showcasing its massive popularity.
Akshaye Widhani, the CEO of Yash Raj Films, is the mastermind behind the production of this blockbuster.
