India’s IT Industry Rocked by TCS Layoffs
India’s largest IT services company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), stunned the IT industry with its decision to cut around 2% of its global workforce. Soham Parekh, an Indian techie accused of juggling multiple roles across different startups, shared his perspective on the TCS layoffs. He also offered advice to fellow tech workers. Responding to speculations that “TCS will halt the hiring of experienced staff and freeze annual salary increments globally,” Parekh urged techies to proactively enhance their skills.

TCS’s Stance on Layoffs
On the other hand, TCS disclosed that the layoffs will primarily impact middle and senior management roles, making rehiring unfeasible for these positions. The company highlighted ongoing efforts in providing reskilling and redeployment opportunities. Nevertheless, certain employees will be let go as their roles cannot be restructured to align with future demands.
