There is a weight limit for luggage on trains. It is not weighed routinely. However, checking may happen at major railway stations through scanners or near a parcel office.
Train Ticket Examiners (TTEs) and luggage inspectors can also stop and inspect baggage that appears excessively large or heavy.
Security personnel may also check baggage weight during security checks.

If a passenger carries more than the permitted limit, they are required to book the excess luggage in advance at the parcel office.
If a passenger is found with unbooked excess luggage, the TTE can impose a fine, depending on the extra weight and distance of travel.
