Alex Michelsen Secures Upset Victory

Alex Michelsen, aged 20, created waves in the tennis world by defeating third-seeded Lorenzo Musetti with a 3-6, 7-6 (7/4), 6-4 triumph at the ATP Toronto Masters. This victory marked Michelsen’s first entry into the last 16 of a Masters 1000 event, following his impressive win over a top-10 player. Despite facing nearly 50 unforced errors, Michelsen showcased his resilience and determination on the court.

Reflecting on his win, the 26th-ranked Michelsen expressed his joy, stating, “It feels really good. I’ve put in a lot of hard work and it’s paying off a little bit. I was wondering when it would happen and I guess it is starting to happen right now. I returned really well today and played offensive tennis, executing my shots effectively.”

Additionally, 11th-seeded Karen Khachanov also fought back to secure a spot in the fourth round with a thrilling victory over American Emilio Nava. Khachanov, who previously advanced to the Masters round of 16 in Rome, displayed his competitive spirit to clinch another significant win.
