Bank Holiday Today: Are Banks Open or Closed on Saturday, August 2?
In August, two major festivals fall on Saturdays, which can confuse customers regarding banking operations. Banks will remain closed for a total of 15 days in August.
Banking Operations in August
Banks across India will remain closed on multiple days in August due to several festivals and national holidays. As per the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar, banks will remain closed for a total of 15 days this month, including weekends and major festivals.
While the first and third Saturdays are usually working days, two major festivals falling on Saturdays in August may affect weekend banking operations. On August 2, the first Saturday of the month, banks are expected to remain open for regular operations. However, on August 9, which is Raksha Bandhan, banks will be closed as it marks the second Saturday of the month.
Additionally, the third Saturday of August will also be a holiday for banks in many states due to Janmashtami celebrations. Following this, the fourth Saturday will be a holiday as usual, in line with RBI guidelines. Only the fifth Saturday falling on August 30 will be a working day for banks across all states.
