Legal Plea Filed Against Raj Thackeray

A lawyer, Advocate Ghanshyam Upadhyay, has filed a plea seeking an FIR against Raj Thackeray and his party workers, as reported by news agency ANI.

Incidents of Assault

Recent incidents involving people associated with Raj Thackeray-led MNS have raised concerns. MNS activists have been accused of assaulting individuals and vandalising properties for not speaking Marathi.

One such incident involved the thrashing of a sweet shop owner in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region for the same reason.

Moreover, MNS workers damaged the office of a Mumbai-based share market investor, Sushil Kedia, after he openly declared that he would not speak Marathi.

Opposition to Hindi Imposition

On July 5, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and MNS head Raj Thackeray came together to oppose the “imposition” of Hindi in Maharashtra. This stance was taken after the state government retracted guidelines on introducing Hindi as a third language in primary schools.

Legal Action Demanded

Recently, three lawyers from Mumbai wrote to the Maharashtra Director General of Police (DGP) demanding legal action against MNS for targeting non-Marathi speakers.

The advocates described the attacks as serious threats to social harmony and law and order. They referenced inflammatory statements made by Raj Thackeray, leading to aggressive behavior by party activists.

The lawyers urged the police to take action under the National Security Act (NSA) against those inciting violence and promoting disharmony.

These incidents have been seen as jeopardizing the unity and peace of the nation.
