Assamese Actor Nandini Kashyap Arrested in Hit-and-Run Case
Assamese actor Nandini Kashyap has been arrested in a hit-and-run case in Guwahati, which tragically claimed the life of a 21-year-old student.
Details of the Incident
The hit-and-run took place in Guwahati’s Dakhingaon locality around 3 am on July 25. The victim, identified as Samiul Haque, a student at Nalbari Polytechnic and an employee of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation, was struck by a speeding Scorpio allegedly driven by Ms. Kashyap. Eyewitnesses reported that the actor did not stop to aid the injured student but instead fled the scene.
Aftermath and Arrest
Sadly, the victim succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Colleagues of the deceased pursued the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run and managed to track it down to an apartment in Kahilipara. Ms. Kashyap was allegedly attempting to conceal her SUV at the location. Viral videos documenting the tense confrontation between the colleagues and the actor have circulated widely.
“We have arrested actor Nandini Kashyap in connection with the hit-and-run incident,” stated Jayanta Sarathi Borah, DCP (Traffic) of Guwahati Police. “Initially, we had only interrogated her as the case was under bailable sections. However, following the victim’s tragic demise, we upgraded the charges to culpable homicide amounting to murder, which is a non-bailable offense. She has been apprehended and will be presented before a local court.”
