PM Modi Addresses Operation Sindoor in Parliament

During the debate over Operation Sindoor in the Parliament on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India remains firm in the face of Pakistan’s nuclear threats. Modi emphasized that India has granted complete freedom to its armed forces to combat terrorism.

India’s Firm Response to Terrorism

After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Pakistan predicted India’s retaliation and resorted to making nuclear threats. However, India undertook decisive action on the night of May 6-7. Without hesitation, Indian armed forces swiftly responded, avenging the April 22 attack in just 22 minutes through precision strikes, as confirmed by Modi.

Global Support for India

Modi highlighted that Pakistan faced international isolation, with only a handful of countries backing its stance, while a majority of nations worldwide stood by India in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror strike. Operation Sindoor, according to Modi, conveyed three clear messages to the world.

Lessons from Operation Sindoor

“First, in the event of a terrorist attack, India will retaliate according to its terms and timeline. Second, attempts of nuclear blackmail will not be effective. Third, India will not distinguish between governments supporting terrorism and the masterminds behind it,” Modi stated.

India’s Response to Pakistani Support for Terror

Contrary to expectations, instead of cooperating with India against terrorism, Pakistan aligned itself with non-state actors. This stance led to confrontations between May 7 and May 10, culminating in India teaching a “stern lesson” to Pakistani forces.

Resolution and Ceasefire

Following Operation Sindoor, hostilities involving missile and drone attacks persisted for four days. Eventually, on May 10, a ceasefire was declared. While US President Trump claimed to have facilitated the truce, India clarified that the ceasefire transpired at Pakistan’s request, as reiterated by Modi in Parliament.

Despite the reference to Trump’s involvement, Modi reiterated that the ceasefire was initiated following Pakistan’s plea.
