Stock Market Update
The stock market saw some significant movements today. Tata Consultancy Services witnessed a decline of nearly 3.49%, while Mahindra & Mahindra ended 3.02% lower. Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj Auto also closed almost 3% lower. Wipro stocks were not spared either, falling by 2.58%.
Gainers and Losers
Hindustan Unilever shares were the top gainers, rising by 4.68%. SBI Life and Axis Bank also closed in the green, with gains of nearly 1.38% and over 0.60%, respectively. IndusInd shares advanced by 0.60%, while Sun Pharma’s stocks closed positively with a rise of 0.57%.
Overall Market Performance
This week, the benchmark indices ended on a lower note, mainly due to sectors like Nifty IT, Media, and Metal. Titan faced the most significant decline in the Nifty, dropping by over 8%, followed by HCLTech and Apollo Hospitals. On the other hand, HUL and Kotak Mahindra Bank emerged as the top gainers in the Nifty.
Sectoral Performance
Nifty IT had a tough week, leading with Persistent Systems and HCLTech showing significant declines. In contrast, Nifty FMCG registered a 2% increase, with HUL and Godrej Consumer driving the gains. Kotak Mahindra Bank and IndusInd Bank shone in the Nifty Bank sector as top performers.
Market Close
The NSE Nifty 50 closed the day on a positive note, up by 0.81% at 25,149.85, while the BSE Sensex closed slightly lower at 82,500.47, with a decrease of 0.83%.
