String of Murders in Bihar: Lawyer Shot Dead After Having Tea – GNP News

Unidentified assailants opened fire on Jitendra Mahato while he was returning after having tea, according to a report from the ANI news agency cited by Patna East SP Parichay Kumar.

Police found three bullet shells at the scene and are currently looking into the motive and identities of the attackers. Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams have been called in, and CCTV footage is under scrutiny, the report mentioned.

Jitendra Mahato, a lawyer, was shot and later succumbed to his injuries at the PMCH hospital. The family revealed that he visited the spot daily for tea and was shot on his way back. The authorities are investigating the criminals and reasons behind the attack. FSL teams, local law enforcement, and the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) are involved in the probe. All nearby CCTV cameras are being examined thoroughly, cited the police officer quoted by the news agency.

Another recent victim in the series of murders is Surendra Kumar or Kewat, who was gunned down near his farm by motorcycle-borne attackers in Sheikhpura village along the Bihta–Sarmera State Highway. Surendra Kumar, reportedly associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), passed away during treatment at a nearby hospital, as per Singh’s statement.

The same day, Vikram Jha, a grocery store owner hailing from Darbhanga, was fatally shot outside his shop in the Ram Krishna Nagar area of Patna.

In another tragic incident in Sitamarhi, businessman Putu Khan fell victim to a point-blank shooting by unidentified attackers at Mehsaul Chowk.

These unfortunate events follow the killing of Gopal Khemka, a businessman and BJP official, outside his residence in the supposedly secure Gandhi Maidan on July 4.
