US President Donald Trump revealed on Tuesday that the Philippines will now serve as an “open market” for American products, free from any tariffs. In contrast, the Philippines will maintain a 19% tariff rate, a key aspect of the recently finalized trade agreement between the two countries.

Following the recent visit of Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to the White House, President Trump expressed his satisfaction with the discussions that took place. Describing the visit as “beautiful,” Trump commended Marcos for his negotiating skills, referring to him as a “very good and tough negotiator.” Among the topics covered, both leaders emphasized the importance of enhancing military cooperation between their nations.
