Trump Announces Trade Deal with Philippines

The United States President, Donald Trump, revealed on Tuesday that the Philippines is set to become an “open market” for American goods, free from tariffs. However, the Philippines will face a 19% tariff on its exports to the US, in what Trump hailed as a successful trade agreement between the two countries.

Successful Trade Talks

Trump’s announcement followed a meeting between Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and him at the White House. Describing the visit as “beautiful,” Trump commended Marcos for being a skilled negotiator, saying he was both good and tough in discussions. The leaders also reached an agreement to enhance their military collaboration.

Warm Regards to the Filipinos

“We extend our warmest regards to the wonderful people of The Philippines!” Trump expressed in his post, reflecting on the strengthened economic ties between the two nations.
